I caught myself checking the same thing more than once today.
I already knew nothing had probably changed, but I looked anyway. It's funny how waiting can make us do that. We keep refreshing the page, checking our inbox, watching the calendar, hoping today might finally be the day something shifts. And when it doesn't, it's so easy to wonder if we're doing something wrong or if we've somehow fallen behind.
I've realized that waiting has a way of making everything feel louder. The questions become louder. The doubts become louder. Even comparison gets louder if I'm not careful. I start noticing how quickly everyone else's lives seem to be moving while mine feels like it's standing still, and before I know it, I've convinced myself that maybe God is moving for everyone else but me.
I don't think I usually question whether God is good. If I'm honest, I question whether He's doing anything at all. Not because I truly believe He's forgotten me, but because waiting can feel so incredibly quiet. We pray, we hope, we keep showing up, and sometimes it feels like heaven isn't saying much in return.
But today I was reminded that silence isn't the same thing as absence.
Seeds spend a long time hidden before anyone sees what's happening beneath the surface. Roots grow long before flowers bloom. Just because I can't see movement doesn't mean God isn't working in places I can't yet reach.
That thought brought me back to Ecclesiastes 3:11:
"He has made everything beautiful in its time."
Not my time.
His time.
I wish I could say I've mastered that truth, but I haven't. Some days I still wish His timeline looked a little more like mine. I still hope for quicker answers, clearer direction, and doors that open sooner rather than later.
But maybe faith isn't about having all the answers while we wait.
Maybe it's choosing to believe that even here—even in the waiting—God is still writing a beautiful story.
So tonight, instead of asking why nothing seems to be happening, I'm choosing to remember that growth isn't always visible. Maybe tomorrow won't look much different than today. Maybe the answer I've been praying for still won't come.
But that doesn't mean God has stopped working.
Sometimes the most beautiful parts of His plan are the ones we don't see until we look back.
